Ringer Reef is a small winery crushing less than 30 tonnes each year. All of our wines are handmade and bottled on site from hand picked grapes grown on either our own or neighboring vineyards in Porepunkah.

 

2011 Sauvignon Blanc

This wine is made from grapes grown on the Ringer Reef Vineyard at Porepunkah. It was bottled in June 2011. The wine reflects the unusually cool growing season. It is light and crisp on the pallet with attractive kiwi fruit and passion fruit flavours. $18

2010 Chardonnay

Fruit was selected from Bryan and Eleana Nicholson’s vineyard at Porepunkah. The wine was fermented in older French oak barrels and retained on yeast lees until bottling in December 2010. It is a rich and complex wine showing nicely integrated oak enriched by the creamy lees and balanced with soft acid. $22

2011 Rose 

This wine is made from Shiraz and Cabernet grown by Lachlan and Penny Campbell at Byawatha and Merlot and Sangiovese from the Ringer Reef vineyard at Porepunkah. The wine was fermented partly in older American oak puncheons and bottled in July 2011. It is very fragrant with clean fresh fruit on the nose and good weight on the palate. It is dry and has a soft, mouth filling finish. $15

2010 Sangiovese

This wine is made from Sangiovese grapes grown by Ian Black at Nug Nug and on the Ringer Reef Vineyard at Porepunkah. The wine was matured in older French oak hogsheads for 13 months to provide barrel development without the oak dominating the fruit. It was bottled in July, 2011. The wine shows attractive dark cherry fruit with firm grape tannins on the palate giving an elegant, dry finish in the Italian style. $24

2005 Merlot 

This wine has been made from grapes grown on the small Ringer Reef vineyard. It was matured in barrel for 18 months before bottling in July 2007. The aroma and flavour is rich chocolate and oak with firm ripe grape tannins nicely supported by some new and one year old French oak giving very good flavour and structure to the palate. $24

2008 Merlot 

This wine has been made from Merlot with a small amount of Durif grapes grown in the Alpine Valleys region of Victoria. It was matured in barrel for 20 months before bottling in March 2010. The aroma is dark cherry and oak with nice ripe fruit and firm grape tannins supported by some new French oak giving very good structure and flavour. $24

NV Sparkling Merlot

This wine has been made from Merlot grapes grown on the small Ringer Reef vineyard in the Alpine Valleys region. It was matured in French and American oak hogsheads for 2 years before being tiraged into this bottle. The resulting wine shows rich berry flavours and nicely integrated oak with a sweetness that is balanced by the complex tannins. $28

2010 Pinot Chardonnay

This wine has been made from 60% Pinot Noir grapes grown on the Michelini vineyard and 40% Chardonnay grapes grown on the Dalbosco Vineyard at Porepunkah. The base wine was made without sulphur dioxide, underwent malolactic ferment and held on yeast lees for six months. It was tiraged into this bottle and re-fermented in early December 2010. After nearly a year on lees it was disgorged with no liqueur added. The resulting wine shows has a fine bead and with rich toasty and vegemite characters on the nose with a very soft, dry, clean and crisp palate. $28
